John Martin Chief Executive Officer
John Martin has 18 years of experience in the international oil and gas sector mainly focused in the areas of projects, business development and exploration new ventures. He initially gained North Sea project development experience with Total before working in strategic planning, gas marketing and business development. Moving to Enterprise Oil after 7 years with Total, he was responsible for delivering the company’s entry into Brazil. Under John’s leadership, Enterprise Oil became the most successful international player in Brazil with a balanced portfolio of development projects and exploration interests prior to the take-over by Shell in 2002. He continued with Shell as Asset Manager in order to bring the first non-Petrobras operated deepwater oil field into production. Prior to Hansa Hydrocarbons, John held several senior roles with BG Group, including Vice President, Upstream Growth, Egypt, where he was responsible for managing the Nile Delta exploration portfolio and business development activities out of Cairo. John has a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London (1990) and an MBA from Oxford University (2006).
Patrick Kennedy Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary
Patrick Kennedy has 16 years experience in the oil industry, most recently as Group Treasurer of Vetco International Limited, the oil services group. He joined Vetco International in 2004 as a main board director responsible for corporate finance, treasury and risk management and was part of the team that sold Vetco Gray to GE and the remaining Aibel business to Ferd private equity in 2007. Before that, he enjoyed a wide variety of finance roles at Enterprise Oil plc, including running the finance function in Brazil for Enterprise’s first operated field development, arranging asset based financing in Italy, providing financial management for various assets in the UK and various corporate treasury positions. He has extensive experience of finance, treasury, tax, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions, both on corporate and asset deals. Patrick is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA) and a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (MCT).
Simon Lunn Technical Director
Simon Lunn has 23 years experience in the international E&P business with BP, Enterprise Oil and Lunn Upstream Consultants. At BP and Enterprise, he gained significant operating experience in the North Sea and was responsible for several noteworthy discoveries, including Pierce. Outside the North Sea, he played a key role in Enterprise’s international new ventures efforts and was instrumental in developing the company’s portfolio in Peru, where he subsequently spent 4 years in Lima as Exploration Team Leader, where he managed an extensive operational program of seismic acquisition and drilling. Upon his return to London he took up a senior technical position and played an important role in the development of the company’s portfolio in Brazil. In 2002 he founded Lunn Upstream Consultants which provides subsurface consultancy services to the upstream oil and gas business. In building this successful business, Simon has developed an extensive network of consultants throughout all the subsurface disciplines. In addition Lunn Upstream Consultants signed a large exploration licence in Peru, which has been successfully farmed out to ConocoPhillips.
Simon Tortike Developments Director
Simon Tortike has 25 years experience worldwide in oil and gas developments as reservoir and petroleum engineer for multinationals and NOCs, and in a leading service company. After gaining experience in the service sector across the Middle East and North Africa, he moved into academia where he achieved a professorship of petroleum engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. In 1994, Simon moved to Australia to promote and guide the implementation of reservoir and surface network modelling tools for gas field developments in the Bass Strait and the NW Shelf areas of Australia and offshore Malaysia. At Paradigm Geophysical, his particular focus was the better integration of seismic information with reservoir engineering decisions. In 2002, he founded IMI Innovations which provided reservoir engineering management services for development projects to Pemex, BP, and BG in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Egypt and Kazakhstan. Simon holds degrees in petroleum engineering from Imperial College (BSc) and the University of Alberta (PhD), and an MBA from Deakin University, Australia.
